The yellow Shinkansen was running slowly under the overpass where I was standing. Normally, I would feel a bit lucky to see Doctor Yellow, but I did not feel lucky at all this time. The Doctor Yellow I was staring at was very small compared to the real thing. It was a miniature Doctor Yellow running in Niijuku Traffic Park.
But miniature is not an understatement. The Doctor Yellow running in Niijuku Traffic Park actually carries people on the tracks laid out in the park. While the general public cannot ride the real Doctor Yellow, they can ride Doctor Yellow here. Children who are interested in trains must be very excited. There were excited children riding on the train I was watching from the overpass.
Niijuku Traffic Park is a transportation park run by Tokyo's Katsushika Ward. In addition to miniature trains that can actually be ridden, the park has a stretch of road that can be ridden on rental bicycles and tricycles. There are bus stops and intersections with traffic lights, and the halfway realistic roads are very surreal to look at.
