A train slid onto the platform. But it was not the train in the direction I wanted to head. The train doors opened and I watched the passengers pour off the train as I passed it by.
I looked out the window of the train and noticed a wire fence attached to it. Through the wire mesh, children were looking out at the scenery. Some of the children were standing still, while others were moving their faces as if they were chasing something. There was something smiling about this scene.
Because the train is not air-conditioned, it would certainly be a problem if the windows could not be opened. However, if the windows could be opened and closed freely, there would surely be people getting on and off through the windows. It makes sense that the wire mesh was designed to prevent this. In Japan, no matter how much there are fights over seats, no one tries to get in through the windows. But India must be different.
That reminds me of something that happened in Egypt. I was sitting on the window seat of the train, leisurely gazing at the scenery, when we arrived at the station and a large crowd of people started climbing in through the window at once. I could only be stunned by the sight. In a world with wire mesh, there must be some reason why it is necessary.
