Walking through the streets of Mumbai with a camera dangling, people from all walks of life show interest in the camera. Many of them are children, but not a few are adults. Some people are surprisingly discerning, and will even go out of their way to stop moving so that they can have their picture taken. The driver in the photo was just one such person.
He was driving a truck, and when he pulled up beside me, he rolled down his window and called out to me. Then he posed with a thumbs up and a big smile on his face. His confident demeanor somehow made me smile as well.
What is interesting is that for these people, the important thing is to have their picture taken, and they are not so much interested in how well it turns out. After this driver finished taking pictures, he drove off in his truck without even checking the picture. As I looked off behind him, I thought that this kind of innocence might be unique to this town.
