The man looked back
I was strolling about the lanes in the old quarter. The atmosphere was desolate as usual. I wondered where the inhabitants were. The locals might be dwelling with bated breath. I couldn't hear any sounds in the alleyways.
When I thought such thing, I found a man standing at the end of the staircase. And felt relief. He stopped and looked at me. Yet he started to climb again before I came closer to him. And I never saw him again.
