A boy was playing in an alley in Moulay Idriss. This town is spread out like a crawlspace at the foot of a mountain called Zerhoun, and the alleys in the old town are still like a maze, where children are playing. When this boy noticed me, he turned his big eyes to me and smirked.
What makes Moulay Idriss a little different from other towns is that in the center of the town there is a mausoleum where Moulay Idriss I, the founder of the Idriss dynasty, rests. For this reason, non-Muslims were not allowed to enter the town until recently. Even today, however, they can enter the town, but not the mausoleum itself. The town around the mausoleum seemed somewhat solemn.
