The man was crouched on a rundown street corner in the old city of Patan
I was walking in the old town of Patan. There is a royal palace square here, separate from Kathmandu, which is also registered as a World Heritage site. Patan was a different kingdom from Kathmandu, even though it was only a walking distance from Kathmandu.
When I was walking through the old town of Patan, I saw a middle-aged man squatting in the corner of an alley. There was a staircase in front of him that looked like a convenient place to sit down, but he did not sit there. He was sitting directly on the ground. Perhaps he not only wanted to sit down, but also to hide in the shadows.
