A man was sitting in a small shop. On the shelf next to the man, there were many used plastic bottles lined up. I could see a colored liquid in them. Although it was colored like vegetable oil, it was not vegetable oil. This was not a store that sells foodstuffs. The liquid in the plastic bottles was all gasoline. At first glance, this store looked like an ordinary shop, but in fact, it was a gasoline and diesel shop on a street corner in Kolkata.
There was no gasoline storage tank here like you would find at a gas station. When a customer arrives, the man in this photo crawls up to their car and pours gasoline directly into their tank using a plastic bottle. He pours fuel directly into the tank from the plastic bottle. In other words, the bottles on the shelf are not only a storage tank but also the fueling machine itself.
The man was relaxing in the store and smiled at me when I pointed the camera at him. But wasn't he afraid to relax next to plastic bottles full of flammable liquid? Seeing him smiling at me, I guessed he was not scared. If it were me, I can't help but feel that I'd be too scared to rest my mind.
