I had come to a mountain village in the province of Kalinga. It was the kind of mountain village where you have to climb up a mountain road for hours. There were many houses with tin roofs standing on the few flat plains. The house in the photo is one of them. A young girl was standing alone at the entrance.
It was unusual for a foreigner to come to this village, and the children who had sniffed my presence gathered around me and made a big fuss. This child seemed to have come outside to see what all the fuss was about. Here, young children seemed to be more interested in foreigners than adults, and looked at me with surprised eyes.
