Inside the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall in Taipei was a large space. The ceiling was high, and at the far end, a huge statue of Chiang Kai-Shek sat on a chair. And right next to it stood a guardsman. He wore a metal helmet and held a bayonet in his hand.
Why do they need the guards here? What is inside this Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall is neither a state secret nor an important person, it's just a statue. If they are guarding it, it may be because of the Kuomintang's pride against the Communist Party. In any case, the guard did not move an inch. Even when I approached him, he showed no signs of movement, as if he was a statue. He looked like a man who was performing a street performance called a "statue". The guardsman that stayed still in the same position must be an excellent street performer right now.
