On this day, I went to the Miyano Old House Natural Garden in our neighborhood. This is a little museum where old houses and old folk tools are displayed. It's not far from my house, but I have never been there before. Suddenly, I decided to go there that day.
The museum was located in the middle of a residential area. The site was certainly large, but a house of this size is not that unusual. As I entered through the wooden gate, I immediately saw the main house. It was a large main house. The person who owned such a large house must have been the headman in the past. When I asked the person in charge of the garden about it, he surprisingly replied that it was not.
The owner of this house made his fortune by selling bamboo. Bamboo is the perfect material for the "cracks" used in the cultivation of seaweed. This area used to be famous for its bamboo, so bamboo was quite common. The bamboo was taken to Haneda to be sold. In other words, this magnificent old house was a bamboo palace.
