I was lounging on the beach at Ishigaki Island. This was not a swimming beach, so there were no people on the beach. All I could see was large ships floating offshore.
There was raggedy clouds floating in the sky above the sea with large ships coming and going. There seemed to be a shipping route right next to the island, and I could see many cargo ships sailing by, even from land.
Okinawa once prospered from trade with China and Southeast Asia, and was once an independent country as the Ryukyu Kingdom. The cargo ships floating on the sea are like remnants of its former prosperity in maritime trade.
