If you're visiting Ishigaki Island, there's one place you simply can't miss—Kabira Bay. Designated as a national scenic spot, this breathtaking bay is a natural masterpiece, shimmering like a jewel in the heart of Okinawa.
On this particular day, bold clouds stretched across the sky, casting shifting shadows over the tranquil bay below. Tour boats floated gently on the crystal-clear water, their silhouettes reflected on the surface like delicate brushstrokes. The water itself shimmered like a liquid gemstone, its hues shifting between emerald green and deep sapphire blue, as if precious stones had been melted and poured into the sea.
The clarity of the water was astounding—so transparent that the ripples of the seabed seemed almost within reach. The urge to dive in and experience its cool embrace was undeniable.
But swimming is strictly prohibited in Kabira Bay. To preserve its pristine beauty, the waters remain untouched by swimmers.
Instead, visitors can take in the scenery from a hilltop viewpoint or explore the bay by glass-bottom boat. And honestly, that alone is more than enough.
As I stood there, simply gazing at this natural wonder, time itself seemed to slow. There are places in the world where nature demands nothing of you—only that you stop and admire its quiet perfection.
Kabira Bay is one of them.
