A railway line stretches along the Hooghly River in Kolkata. It is electrified, but trains only pass along it once in a while. As I walked along the track, I saw a hole in the fence and stepped into the track. It seems that this is a loophole for the locals.
As evidence of this, locals appeared one after another after me and crossed the tracks. The father and son in the photo were also in the process of crossing the tracks through the hole. They were probably on their way home after washing their entire bodies in the river. They must have brushed their teeth in the dirty river water, because they had a cup in their hands.
