There was a Japanese garden in the inward precinct of this shrine. And a pond was built there. Many benches were placed on the edge of the water and many people were relaxing on them. Most of them were watching the surface of the pond silently.
Yet the surface which attracted their attention was quiet and nothing was seen. Maybe the surface reflected each feeling of the worshipers coming to this shrine which enshrined the war dead.
