The elderly woman was a weaver. She was in the middle of working on a loom that had been placed next to her house. Of course, the loom was not an electric-powered machine. It was a traditional type of loom where the warp and weft threads are crossed by hand. It is not so unusual to see people weaving like this in the Luang Nam Tha area.
When I approached the old woman to see how she was doing, she looked a little uncomfortable. She seemed annoyed to have her picture taken, and unfortunately, her gaze was not very kind. On the other hand, I was admiring the fact that the looms I saw in India, Southeast Asia, and Japan looked the same, although I don't know where I am from and where the original is from.
