There were food stalls lined up in the square of Luang Nam Tha. It was a little like a fair. There was a woman working at one of the many stalls. When I pointed my camera at her, she smiled.
In front of the woman, who wore a skirt called a sinh, the traditional dress of Laos, were skewers of grilled chicken. A fragrant smell filled the air. The smell attracted not only people like me but also flies, I guess. The woman was holding a stick in her hand to chase away the flies. She was working with a stick that had a plastic bag attached to the end, chasing away the flies that came near. Without it, the flies would have been attracted to her and she would have been in trouble.
