Two Precautious Girls

Precautious girls
Shot in the city of Rangpur, Bangladesh Tetsu Ozawa

The girls watched the foreign stranger with an SLR camera carefully

Unlike boys who are rudely messing around, Bangladeshi girls are often modest. On the sidelines, it's difficult to determine whether girls are expected to play modest gender roles in this Muslim-majority country, or whether it's a personal quality of the girls.

Even the two girls in this photo didn't scream or get excited when they found an SLR camera. Perhaps it was not just the gender roles, but also the fact that they were wary of strange foreigners. They remained still and gave me a probing look. They did not approach me out of curiosity.
