There were a hall of Benzaiten shrine, torii and vegetation on an islet in the pond 'Senzoku-Ike'. Both the hall and the torii were small. Yet the color of the torii was vivid red. Besides, the vegetation around it distinguished the gateway moreover.
The torii was the boundary between the sacred area and the mundane area. So it was brought into clear view to show the entrance to the place where the deity was enshrined.
