The main deity of the Baoan Temple is a medical deity called Baosheng, but the temple also enshrines Mazu and the Bodhisattva Guanyin on its grounds. The temple is not only a Taoist temple but also a Buddhist temple, which makes me think that the temple is a bit unscrupulous. However, it does not matter what god is enshrined as long as it is beneficial. Many local people may think so rationally.
The walls of the temple were painted red, and an old man looking like a hermit was painted on the door. Perhaps this old man was Baosheng. With his long white beard, he looked as if he would bring good fortune.
By the way, Baosheng actually existed in what is now Xiamen about 1,000 years ago. He is worshipped as a god after his death because he saved many people through his medical skills. Even in Taoism, people can become gods.
