There was a school in the old town of Panauti. It was probably just recess time, and there were students wearing regimental striped ties hanging out in the alley in front of the school. The children were interested in the camera held by the gentile who suddenly appeared, but they didn't overtly come in front of me. It was as if they were keeping a little distance from me, waiting to see how I would behave.
Of all the children, the one who showed the most interest was a girl with a nostril piercing. She was hiding behind the back of a boy in her class, her large eyes fixed on me. It was a sharp gaze, in contrast to the vague gazes of the boys. Maybe she was a little scared.
