The fishing done in the area around Midigama was very unique. Fishing is done in the ocean using fishing rods, but not boats. It is not rock fishing either. The pole is erected in the sea, and the fishermen hang down their fishing rods from it. The pole can be erected only at the edge of the waves, not so deep in the sea, so I don't think they can catch big fish. However, the fact that they can make a living here means that there are fish roaming around in the shallows. I was watching them to see what kind of fish they could catch, but the waves were too high that day to catch any fish at all.
I wondered why they didn't use a boat. It seems to me that it would be much easier to use a boat. But efficiency is not everything.
