Stilt Fishing

The men fishing while holding a pole

Shot in the beach of Midigama, Sri Lanka.

The way of their fishing was very unique. They didn't use any boats while they were fishing. They were fishing on a pole firmly embedded in the sea bottom. I wondered why they didn't use boats. I thought it was much easier to work. However, it was not always about the promotion of streamlining.

Because of strong waves, they couldn't catch any fishes on that day. I wondered what kind of fishes they could catch here.
