As I was walking along the Hooghly River that flows through Kolkata, I saw a lot of people at the water's edge. Since this river is a tributary of the holy Ganges, I thought that some people would be bathing in this river, but I was wrong.
Although many people were bathing in the Hooghly River, they were not doing so as a religious ritual. They were just washing their bodies. They were simply washing their bodies, letting off the sweat of their daily lives. This place was like a public bath where many people gathered and scrubbed their bodies.
All the people washing their bodies looked refreshed and comfortable. But despite their expressions, the water was muddy and I didn't feel like joining them, no matter how sweaty I was.
