While walking in the Pettah district of Colombo, I met a mother holding a baby. The baby looked like a girl. She has a necklace around her neck and I could see the pierced earrings in her ears. And most importantly, she had long eyelashes.
Instead of the baby showing any interest in the camera, the saree-clad mother was smiling at me. Or, to be more precise, the mother was flirting with having her photos taken. Next to the scowling baby looking somewhere in the distance, the mother was staring firmly into the camera. It is sometimes a phenomenon that parents are curious while their children are indifferent when the camera is pointed at them.
