As I walked through the Thamel district of Kathmandu, a man was standing next to a brick wall with his bicycle parked next to it. There was a large basket attached to the back of the bike and it was full of mangoes. The man was peddling mangoes on a bicycle.
When I think of mangoes in Japan, I tend to think of a fruit that's a bit expensive, a gift, but people in Nepal don't have that kind of image. When I walked around town, I saw many mango sellers on the side of the road, and the price was cheap. People in Nepal don't have an image of luxury at all.
