The wooden Kishimojin Hall was visited by one worshipper after another. This Kishimojin Hall in Zoshigaya was built in 1561. If you look closely at the historic Kishimojin Hall, you will notice that the 'Oni' of Kishimojin written on the flat plaque does not have a dot above it. The reason for this is that the statue of Kishimojin enshrined in the main hall has a beautiful bodhisattva-shaped figure, so the character for "demon" was used to avoid the horns.

The girl in the photograph was probably brought to the temple by her parents. After visiting the shrine, the girl started to go down the wooden steps step by step. Underneath the large flat plaque, the two of them can just be seen praying. Kishimojin is a guardian deity of children and safe childbirth. But this young girl probably doesn't know that.
