Fundai-in is one of the pagodas of Tofuku-ji Temple, also known as Sesshu-ji Temple because of its garden, which is said to have been created by Sesshu. When I entered the Japanese-style room with tatami mats, it was empty and dimly lit.
Silence filled the room and all that could be heard was the chirping of cicadas. The window was open and sunlight was shining into the dimly lit room. A mosquito coil was placed by the window. There were no screens on the windows, so mosquitoes as well as worshippers must be able to enter the room freely.
