The alleys in the old town of Casablanca are narrow like other alleys in the old town, and are flanked on both sides by buildings. Therefore, many of them do not get enough sunlight. In Japan, sunlight is required for living space, but in a country like Morocco where the sun is too strong, sunlight may not be so required.
Even in such an old city, there are places where sunlight pours in depending on the time of day. This photo shows one such place. Sunlight was shining like a spotlight in one of the alleys, and a man with his hands in his pockets was walking in the sunshine.
