The huge architecture in this photo was Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall. The hall was dedicated to Chiang Kai-Shek, the first President of the Republic of China. His big statue was housed in the building.
I didn't know whether Chiang Kai-Shek was popular for the locals because he was a dictator. Anyway, his statue was still guarded by the guards. And the change guard attracted many tourists here. Viewed in this light, he kept making a contribution to this country.
