The Yu Garden in Shanghai was so large that it was hard to believe that it was in a town; it boasted enough space to be divided into six areas, each of which was separated by a wall. Looking at the top of the wall separating the areas, there were dragon faces fitted in places. It is a large dragon statue.
I remember that the dragon was supposed to be a symbol of the emperor in China. Yu Garden was a garden created for his father by Pan Yun Dan, an official with no connection to the emperor. I wondered whether it was right to use a dragon in such a private residence.
