When the New Year arrives, the Meiji Jingu Shrine is crowded with many people who come to pay their respects. On this day, however, it was still New Year's Eve and the shrine grounds were not crowded. Even so, there were more worshippers than I had expected. I also saw many tourists from overseas. It seems that this place is well integrated into the course of Tokyo sightseeing. I doubt that people from overseas know who the deity of the Meiji Shrine is. They may think that the shrine is just a rare thing found only in Japan.

The approach to the shrine has a dense atmosphere, with the forest of the shrine spreading out on both sides of the path. The path was shaded by trees and sun pools. As I stopped to look at the worshippers walking along the path, I saw a couple walking in the sun.
