Among the stalls in front of the mosque, there was a peddler selling coconut juice. Not a single person was buying anything, as there was a mass prayer going on inside the mosque. I guess this vendor get busy only after the mass prayer is over and many people come out of the mosque. When I walked past him, he looked bored.
The peddler came by with a used bicycle loaded with coconuts, a cigarette in his mouth, and a knife in his hand, silently cutting coconuts. He seemed to be trying to sell the coconuts by just cutting one more when someone came to buy them.
As I was watching the man cutting one after another, he noticed my presence. He turned his gaze to me. But he wasn't asking me to buy anything. With a sharp look at me, he lifted a large coconut and gave me a look as if to say, "Watch what I'm going to do". I watched with interest, thinking that he was going to cut the coconut in half in one go, but he just cut the end of the coconut a little bit and started cutting it again silently. I was a little taken aback.
