The Tokyo Skytree, which looks like it is standing very close by, is actually not that close. It is about 1.5 km away from Kinshicho, where I took this picture. Even though the road is flat with no mountains or valleys, it takes about 30 minutes to walk there.
The lack of skyscrapers in the surrounding area is one of the reasons why the Tokyo Skytree looks like it is soaring high in the sky. It's no wonder it's the tallest radio tower in the world. That's right. It is the tallest radio tower in the world. In other words, if it were not a radio tower, it would be taller than the Tokyo Skytree. This is the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. It is actually 828 meters tall. The Tokyo Skytree is the next tallest building.
Even though they are the second tallest buildings in the world, one is a skyscraper with hotels, offices, and living spaces inside, while the other is a radio tower with observation decks. The structures are so different that it doesn't seem to make sense to rank them.
