After passing through a jumble of alleys, I came to a large street. Unlike the alleys that ran between houses, this street was lined with stores and had the liveliness of a town. I walked leisurely along the street, watching the people working. In the meantime, I came to a barbershop.
A customer was sitting on the only chair in the store, and standing beside him was the owner of the store, a bespectacled barber or hairdresser, or whatever his name was. The man with scissors in his hand was giving a customer a haircut. As in Japan, a haircut cape was placed over the customer's body to prevent the cut hair from sticking directly to the customer's body. I don't know why, but the cape had Japanese writing on it. I wonder if the Chinese characters and hiragana look cool to Myanmar people.
The hairdresser was quietly going about his work with a serious face, not giving me a second glance. The client man is a man, staring intently into the mirror in front of him. He seems excited to see how his new haircut will look. I don't know if this store has a good reputation in the neighborhood or not. In any case, I don't like the idea of walking barefoot on a floor littered with haircut hair. It bothered me that both the hairdresser and the customers were barefoot.
