Around the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Station, which is designated as a World Heritage Site, there are many buildings built during the British colonial period. These buildings are made of stone, and all of them have a stately atmosphere. If you did not see the people walking around or the stores inside, you would feel as if you had wandered into a European townscape. The arcade I was walking through was also a magnificent structure supported by stone arches, and its massiveness was in perfect harmony with the surrounding atmosphere.
In the arcade, I found a store selling helmets; I had heard that India, with a population of over 1.4 billion, is experiencing a rapid increase in car and motorcycle sales as its economy grows. In contrast to Japan, where the population is declining, India is expected to continue to enjoy a demographic bonus. As a result, the number of motorcycles sold will continue to increase, and so will the demand for helmets.
