Many couples have their wedding photos taken on the rooftop plaza of Osanbashi Pier

Like train stations and airports, cruise ship terminals seem to offer pathways to unknown places, and it is understandable why they are popular with newlyweds excited about their new lives. Many couples dress up and have their pictures taken at Osanbashi Pier in Yokohama. As I strolled around the rooftop plaza, I saw couples taking pictures here and there.

The view is certainly nice, and the "Various Uses" section of the official website describes it as "an ideal location for pre-wedding, post-wedding, and photo weddings in kimonos and wedding dresses". Still, I was wondering if there weren't too many of them, and after taking one couple's picture, I could see why this is a popular spot for photoshoots.

There are many other places with nice views and stately buildings, but not many where the sky is as big as the rooftop plaza of Osanbashi. Even though the highest point is only 15 meters above the ground because the ships that call at the port are the main attraction, the rooftop of Osanbashi, which juts out into the ocean, makes it possible to take pictures with the sky in the background. The sky beyond the couple was like a cyclorama.
