The pedestrians were scurrying in the underground passage near Shinjuku station. Most of them were heading for the entrance of the station.
Because they were walking at a brisk trot, I thought they were busy. Besides, they were moving individually, without saying a word. I felt as if it were prohibited to talk here. The passage was silent. So I walked also in silence like other people. The only sound I could hear was the sound of their steps.
