The young man was walking down the street with a Mister Donut cart pushing along. The Philippines, like Japan, is a country where Mister Donut has been making inroads. However, the sales method is a little different from Japan's. In Japan, I have never seen such a stall. They are just sold in stores. In Vigan, doughnuts were displayed in a showcase attached to the front of a tricycle, and a man was selling them. It was peddling.
Seeing the large number of people coming to buy them, doughnuts are not an uncommon food around here. Perhaps it is because the Philippines was an American colony for about 50 years until 1946. In addition to Mister Donut, there are other foreign franchise chains in Vigan, including McDonald's.
