There are many modern buildings in Shanghai, but there are still some old-fashioned alleys in the city. However, they are not as old as the hutongs in Beijing, and it feels like walking through a housing complex built between the 1960s and 1970s. The buildings themselves are made of concrete with no character.
When I was walking in such an alleyway, a woman with an umbrella came to me from the other side. The woman was holding a large umbrella like a single flower in a desolate alleyway. She walked past me with the big flower hiding her face.
