There are chai stalls in every city in India. Chai is the national drink of India. Simple chai stands are everywhere in every town. Whenever you want to drink it, you can drink it and it's very convenient. Here in Daulatabad, too, I saw two men chatting and sipping chai at a roadside chai stand.
There was an idyllic atmosphere around the stand the two men were at. It's not a prosperous town, but it's interesting to note that the name of the town, Daulatabad, means 'prosperous town'.
In 1327, Muhammad bin Tughluq, the second sultan of the Tughluq dynasty, which once ruled the whole of India, moved the capital of his dynasty from Delhi to a town called Devagiri and renamed it Daulatabad, which is said to be the origin of the town's name. After that, the capital moved back to Delhi, but the town's name is still "Prosperity Town". As far as I walked around the town, I couldn't shake the impression that it was losing its name..
