The man with the bindi between his eyebrows was on the street doing some kind of street preaching

The area around the Mumba Devi temple, from which the city of Mumbai derives its name, was filled with the energy and bustle of people. Streets were lined with food stalls and filled with people passing by. As I was walking through the streets, idly looking at the people, a conspicuously dressed man caught my eye.

The man wore a red bindi between his eyebrows and a kurta, the traditional Indian men's costume. He also wore a long cloth around his neck and held a metal container in his hand. His attire set him apart from the people around him and made him look as if he had some special purpose.

As he walked along, the man called out to people on the street. There was a red powder in the container, and he was binging people's foreheads with it as they stopped. His mannerisms, as if he was giving a street sermon, created an atmosphere somewhat like a religious ceremony, even just by looking at him.

Suddenly, my gaze met the man's. At that moment, his serious yet somehow calm expression stopped me in my tracks.
