St. William's Cathedral in Laoag, which was built in the 1870s and has a long history but is not a tourist attraction, was deserted when I visited. Moreover, it was a weekday. There was no mass scheduled, and there were few people outside or inside the cathedral who came to worship.
A tricycle was parked in front of the cathedral's main entrance. Someone had probably arrived on it. The cathedral, surrounded by the most serene atmosphere, is a good place for a solitary worship service.
