The doors of the cathedral that stands in the center of San Cristóbal de las Casas were firmly closed. A man was sitting next to its large doors. It looked as if he was waiting for the cathedral doors to open, or for someone to come in. But there was not the slightest indication that the cathedral doors were going to open, so he must have been waiting for someone.
By the way, Las Casas, which is also the name of the cathedral and the name of the town, is named after Bartolomé de las Casas, a Spanish Catholic church priest, also known as "the protector of the Indians".
