Although the precinct belonged to the Buddhist temple, there were also small halls dedicated to Shinto deities. The small hall in this photo was one of them. Before the Meiji Revolution, Buddhism and Shintoism were not distinguished in a rigorous manner.
When I entered, a man and a woman were just praying. The deity enshrined here is believed that desire to get on in life would come true when people prayed for it.
