Walking down Mejiro Street, I came across a small bookstore. It was not a chain store, but an old-fashioned, privately owned bookstore tucked away in the middle of town. It is not easy to run a bookstore in this day and age. Nowadays, when many people buy magazines and books over the Internet, these bookstores are likely to gradually disappear. As a book lover, I find this reality a little sad. That's why it makes me happy to see such small bookstores doing well, and makes me want to cheer them on.
The storefront was lined with a variety of weekly literary magazines. All of them were old Weekly Bunshun. The price was 50 yen. Curious as to when they were published, I approached the store. I felt as if the titles of the Weekly Bunshun were speaking to me, or even approaching me. There was something strange about this scene, as if I had been left behind in time.
