Stone Statue Of Marici

Stone Statue of marici

The deity has tree heads

Shot at Yakumo Jinja, a Shinto shrine in Kamakura, Kamakura.

In a corner of the precinct, I found some stone statues. The stone statue in this photo was one of them. It was sculptured a deity of Marici which was apotheosized of heat haze.

This Marici had three faces and six arms. Besides, its eyebrows were thick. And the thick eyebrows made its expression comical. Its appearance looked like a character of a cartoon. The spirit of Japanimation has existed since early times.
