There was an auto tricycle truck parked on the street I was walking on in Kolkata. There were eyes modestly painted on the front of the vehicle. I guessed it was some kind of amulet. Many cultures believe that eyes have the power to ward off evil. Here in India, young children are given kajal eyeliner to ward off evil, in Morocco and other Maghreb countries, pupil designs called the eye of Fatima are used to ward off evil, and in Turkey, there is a talisman called Nazar. The eye on this auto tricycle truck is probably to ward off evil in the same way.
To begin with, the auto tricycle truck itself is not seen in Japan anymore. I felt a little nostalgic, and as I was looking around, I noticed a man with a mustache sitting in the driver's seat, looking at me. The man looked at me curiously as I looked at the auto tricycle truck.
