Most people in the washing ghat were women. The laundry seemed to be a job for women here. During women were washing, men might be working in offices or shops. I thought it was uncommon to have a double income here. It could be impossible to wash for hours and work in the office for hours on the same day.
The man in the photo was one of the few men in the ghat. Although he was washing like women, what he was washing was not the clothes. On the other side of him, a mother putting an umbrella up was crouching with her little son. The sun was strong as usual.
