The shadows in the late afternoon were long
It was late afternoon. The sun was going down. Two women were walking the street together while they were chatting. Their shadows fell down on the stone-flagged road. They were very long and stretching toward me.
Although the women were still walking at a distance from me, the shadows came to me already. I felt as if I was touched by the two women. Yet they went on walking as if nothing happened. I was fooled by a practical joke of the sun.
