The carriage way crowded with the locals and bustling. Because it was a festival day, the locals were parading down the streets of Machiya with carrying shrines. And some people were holding a lantern around the carrying shrines. The lantern was attached at the top of a long pole. This kind of lantern is called 'TAKAHARI CHOCHIN'.
The old man in this photo was also carrying such kind of a long pole. And he was smiling while talking with a little boy wearing a cap. It was a heartwarming scene.
