A huge structure stands on the banks of the Keelung River, which flows through northern Taipei. The exterior of the structure, which is reminiscent of Chinese culture, is a hotel named the Grand Hotel of Taiwan. According to one theory, this hotel is one of the largest Chinese buildings in the world. Indeed, its appearance is very exotic.
The hotel opened in 1952. Until then, a Shinto shrine called Taiwan Jingu had stood here. During the Japanese colonial period, many Shinto shrines were built in Taiwan, but in the end, the belief never took root, and most of them were demolished at the end of the Japanese colonial period. Of course, the Taiwan Jingu Shrine was also destroyed easily, and the site was converted into a hotel.
